During the F1 press conference in Russia on Thursday, McLaren Honda driver Fernando Alonso was asked a question about Manor having Mercedes engines, to which the former champion replied, “they can put an airplane engine (in the car) and they would be no further (ahead)”. Strong words from a driver whose average finish this year is 15th and who drives for a team that has consistently finished at the rear of the pack. And Manor F1 Team tweeted a fantastic response to Alonso’s jab, referring to garages being set in the order of the standings…
Considerazioni: Alonso sarà anche stato un po’ troppo diretto nel rispondere, ma come dargli torto? Non basta un buon motore, occorre che tutto il pacchetto funzioni e lui ne sa quacosa, vista la stagione che sta vivendo. Ma, se la sincerità dello spagnolo può non piacere, che dire dell’arroganza della Manor-Marussia? Che ricordiamo tutti perfettamente a chi deve la sua presenza quest’anno in Formula 1… Forse se ne sono dimenticati o gli fa comodo dimenticare.
