E’ del Campione del Mondo in carica Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) la pole position nel Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix 2015, la quinta della stagione e la terza consecutiva negli USA. Dopo aver segnato il miglior crono nelle FP3 ed FP4, lo spagnolo ha preceduto il compagno di squadra Dani Pedrosa e il connazionale e rivale Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP). Seconda fila per Cal Crutchlow (CWM LCR Honda) davanti alla Desmosedici di Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing), quinto a sorpresa, e alla M1 satellite di Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3). La GP15 di Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) apre la terza fila davanti al leader del Mondiale Valentino Rossi e a Maverick Viñales (SUZUKI ECSTAR), con Andrea Dovizioso a chiudere la top 10.
Marc Marquez: “I’m happy because FP4 went very well. Maybe the 6 tenths aren’t completely ‘real’ and there is actually only one or two tenths difference, but the positive thing is that we managed to turn around the gap that we had to Jorge yesterday. There is still the warmup tomorrow and I think everybody is improving, as the track condition is changing and we have to continue to adapt to it. Right now Jorge is the toughest rival and we must be vigilant.“
Una cosa è certa: dopo la pole Marquez punta dritto alla vittoria, che sarebbe la quinta consecutiva, visto che ha vinto negli ultimi quatro anni (due volte in Moto 2 e altrettante in MotoGP). Si torna in pista domani alle 09:40 locali (le 15:40 in Italia) per il Warm Up, mentre alle 14:00 (le 20:00 italiane) scatterà la decima gara della stagione 2015.
