Spy photos have been taken which capture the next F model of the Lexus GS. The car is based on their GS mid size sedan and the pictures show it with almost no disguise which means it is easy to get a good look at it. The car has been seen before in an almost undisguised state a year ago and pictures of it were also published in a Japanese magazine.
The car is an important one in the Lexus range because the brand has not got anything else in the mid-size sedan section of the market that is a high performance model. They will now be able to compete better with the Cadillac CTS-V, BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. It will be debuting at the 2015 Detroit auto show. There have already been two teaser images of the car released by the company but these had a lot of camouflage on them. It is expected that at the motor show Cadillac will also be revealing its 2016 CTS-V so it will be interesting for people to be able to compare the two. The cat will borrow a lot for its GS sibling in the same way that other high performance cars do. This means that it will be based around the GS sedan which was redesigned in 2013. There is rear drive architecture and this will be made stiffer with firmer suspension. There will be wider fender flares as well and there will be some changes to make it more aerodynamic.
It looks like the front fascia will also be meaner with a diving hood line as well as a three dimensional grille. It looks like it will have many unique touches at the front such as the bonnet and the front fenders. There are a few differences at the back with a tiny diffuser and integrated lip spoiler as well as the signature F style stacked exhaust outlets. It is not expected that the off the shelf wheels will be in the production car but that the slotted brake rotors that can be seen behind it will be. It was initially thought that the car would have 459 horsepower. However, it has a V8 which is 5.0 litres which can make 467 horsepower as well as 389 lb/ft torque. It is therefore expected that it could get a bit higher than this perhaps even up to the 500 mark.
The rear tires will have eight speed automatic transmission and there is unlikely to be a manual option for it. It is expected that the car will arrive in mid 2015 as there has already been some teaser pictures. However, when it comes to guessing the price it is not east. The Mercedes-Benz E63 and BMW m5 were near to $100,000 and the Cadillac CTS-V is expected to be around the $80k mark. It is thought that the Lexus will be $15 to 420k less than the German cars.
